Requirements June 1972 until February 1979

1. Do the following:

(a) Show how to read a schematic diagram.

(b) Draw a simple circuit. It should have parts such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, or tubes. Use correct symbols. Label all parts.

2. Do the following:

(a) Explain the right way to solder and unsolder.

(b) Wire the circuit that you drew for No. 1b.

3. Explain ONE of the following:

(a) Remote-control:

Explain how you can use an electronic circuit for remote control. Build a device to show this. A kit may be used. Suggested-an electric eye. A model train control. A model plane control. A toy electronic organ.

(b) Electronic brain:

Explain the binary system of numbers. Make up five problems in addition and subtraction. Work them out. Change binary numbers to decimal numbers. Build a simple flip-flop circuit using either transistors or tubes.

4. Discuss jobs in the field of electronics.

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.
