Requirements June 1972 until August 1982

Do EITHER No. 1, 2, or 3.

1. Using letterpress:

(a) Set a paragraph by hand.
(b) Read and mark proof correctly.
(c) Set type from copy for display card or handbill.
(d) Run 100 copies of the same job on a 10 x 15 or smaller job press. Show the correct way to ink, set gauge pins, use makeready, feed accurately, and wash up press.

2. Using silk-screen:

(a) Make a stencil screen and base.
(b) Print at least 50 copies of a poster, greeting card, or other material.

3. Using offset:

Make a finished piece of publicity. The size is to be set by the equipment used. It can be a newspaper, poster, etc.

History

Scouting has undergone considerable transformation in recent years. Once known as an organization for the development of life skills, character and civic duty in young males across America and then internationally, the BSA brand is now all but put to rest.

The Scouting Memories Project works to preserve the history and memorabilia of scouting for years to come. If you have something to share with the community, we welcome your contributions!

STATEMENT REGARDING OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.

The web pages contain some content that may be considered prejudiced, stereotyped, or offensive. SMP’s records span the history of the Scouting Program, and it is our charge to preserve these materials and to make them publicly accessible as part of the historical record. We take seriously our responsibilities in preserving and cataloging such material in its original format and in providing access for research and educational purposes. SMP recognizes that users may encounter some items within this collection that contain offensive language, imagery, or other forms of objectionable content. Such materials reflect the language and attitudes of the historical period in which they were created.
