Requirements September 1973 until Feburary 1979

1. Do the following:

(a) Give general- and speed-skating safety rules. (b) Discuss the parts and functions of skates.

2. Do the following:

(a) Start and stop properly while skating forward and in both directions around the rink.
(b) Skate backward first on two feet then on one foot.
(c) Cross the feet in front.
(d) Skate a slalom pattern on two feet forward then on one foot.
(e) Shuttle skate.
(f) Shoot the duck.
(g) The limbo under.
(h) The widespread eagle.
(k) Race on a speed track. Start properly, take corners, pass other skaters, pace, and learn the speed-skating rules.
(j) The stepover.
(k) Spin.
(l) Hop, skip, and jump.
(m) Dribble a basketball on skates.
(n) Push a hockey ball around the rink.
(o) Mohawk or two-foot turn.
(p) Slalom skate backward on two feet.

History

Scouting has undergone considerable transformation in recent years. Once known as an organization for the development of life skills, character and civic duty in young males across America and then internationally, the BSA brand is now all but put to rest.

The Scouting Memories Project works to preserve the history and memorabilia of scouting for years to come. If you have something to share with the community, we welcome your contributions!

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.

The web pages contain some content that may be considered prejudiced, stereotyped, or offensive. SMP’s records span the history of the Scouting Program, and it is our charge to preserve these materials and to make them publicly accessible as part of the historical record. We take seriously our responsibilities in preserving and cataloging such material in its original format and in providing access for research and educational purposes.
