Requirements June 1972 – February 1979

1. Explain what is meant by the following terms:

family duty to family family problems

2. Talk with your leader about duties and responsibilities you and other members of your family have at home. Talk with your parents or guardian about other duties you may take on for the next 3 months.

3. Show that you can look after yourself, members of your family, and home by doing the following:

a. Inspect your home and grounds. List any dangers seen.
b. Explain why garbage and trash must be disposed of properly.
c. Look after some children younger than yourself for at least 3 hours. Use good health and safety practices.
d. List some of the things your family spends money for. Tell your responsibility to your family’s finances.
e. Explain what your family does for recreation. Make a list of things your family might do at very little cost. Do one of these with a member of your family

4. Explain how a person or a family member where you live might get help in the following emergencies or problems:

medical
legal
housing
fire
police
lack of money
serious family problem
utility

History

Scouting has undergone considerable transformation in recent years. Once known as an organization for the development of life skills, character and civic duty in young males across America and then internationally, the BSA brand is now all but put to rest.

The Scouting Memories Project works to preserve the history and memorabilia of scouting for years to come. If you have something to share with the community, we welcome your contributions!

STATEMENT REGARDING OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT

The web pages of the Scouting Memories Project (SMP) provide access to descriptions and digital copies of photographs, memorabilia, oral and video recordings of Scouting events and activities.

The web pages contain some content that may be considered prejudiced, stereotyped, or offensive. SMP’s records span the history of the Scouting Program, and it is our charge to preserve these materials and to make them publicly accessible as part of the historical record. We take seriously our responsibilities in preserving and cataloging such material in its original format and in providing access for research and educational purposes. SMP recognizes that users may encounter some items within this collection that contain offensive language, imagery, or other forms of objectionable content. Such materials reflect the language and attitudes of the historical period in which they were created.
